Wiley publishers have purchased the Wrox branding, as well as 34 Wrox books, 1 friends of ED book, and one glasshaus title. Through the grapevine, they are planning on carrying on some of the books and branding into the future.
Nothing official has been announced, but you can see that the current owner of the wrox.com domain is indeed..Wiley.

The Flash Player 6 for PPC has finally been released. The Developers Kit also includes a set of nice looking new "tiny" components aimed for PPC Flash developers. Also, there is a license-able Standalone for the first time ever. The unfortunate news (and I stress unfortunate) is that you have to pay a hefty $500 fee for developing PPC apps.
Although this is a great new addition, I worry that the fee is too steep for many developers. I know for one, I can't sell any PPC Flash apps at this point -- the interest isn't strong enough in my neck of the woods. Therefore, I know the added weight of the licensing fee might not help the case any if I was approached with some interest in standalone apps. So, if the fee remains in place, hopefully those who can afford it will build some cool apps to build the interest out there so I could sell something close to cool and buy the license.
Regardless, check out the news and download the player PPC owners:

The Flash Communication Server has it's first new version announced, 1.5. This update includes some exciting new and useful additions such as HTTP tunneling.
The most exciting new development is the release of a DEVELOPER EDITION!!! This has been something I've been pushing for, speaking up about, mentioning whenever possible. And so have many others. I guess Macromedia, good folk they are, were listening. I think that this is a very smart move, and hopefully we will see many more developers adopt the Flashcom server.

Macromedia announces Flash Central, which is still in beta. Central is a new way for developers to offer applications to an end user. Central is essentially a "shell" for Flash mini-applications. Like a shell for components, that can run on desktops or wireless devices. Users can download and install your mini applications into this Central "core" app, and view your content online and offline. Therefore, they can read or use your app in an offline environment -- even make purchases offline -- and then when the user goes back online the content is updated, purchases made and so on.
Very new exciting way of developing Flash! Read more about it at Macromedia...
