Fancy new ipods soon

One from Think Secret this time. Apparently Apple is working on new iPods in fancy girly colors, but this time the BIG size (that will hopefully be appropriately priced - the ipod mini's are just so darned expensive).

rumor article .

Will be nice to see what these things'll look like, and who many gigs they'll cram into 'em. Gad, I'm turning into a hardware gadgety blog...

Ah, found it! Gizmodo has everything!
I read this article earlier today but just couldn't find it again: The Black iPod; Update: Solved! .

And just because I loved the quote...

My guess? I think the original iPods were black, and then were later changed to white, just like they did to Jesus.

It seems that you can get iPods in a whole raft of colors from these guys; ColorWare Inc..

Prices for a jazzy colored 15 gig iPod go for $365(USD), which seems to be about $65 dollars more than Apple sells the plain jane white ones for on Apple.com.

That's actually not too bad in comparison to some of the cases you buy out there - for some reason I expected more for the custom paint job when they talk about a "premium" and all.

MSNBC has a bit more info on the next generation of iPods; Generation next: The new iPod

MacRumors.com also has a few interesting points and rumors of their own...

[quote]
MSNBC has posted the Newsweek article providing details, more photos and pricing for the new iPods.

New features include:

  • Click wheel (like the iPod Mini)

  • A millimeter thinner

  • More efficient Menus

  • Multiple on-the-go playlists

  • Listen to audiobooks slower or 25 percent faster without affecting pitch

  • Longer play - 12 hours of battery life due to more power conservation

  • Lower price: 40GB - $399, 20GB $299 (no 15 gig model now)

  • Still white

These new models leave a gap in the high end ($499) price point which will presumably be filled by the previously rumored 60GB iPod. Toshiba had previously announced that their 60GB 1.8" HD would be available in July-August and that it had already been ordered by Apple.
